Home : Plato's Words : November 2001 November 2001October was such an amazing month for me in so many ways. I went on my first Canadian tour with guitarist Bill Coon and can truly say it was fantastic to see other parts of Canada and to play music with one of the most inspiring musicians I know. We met so many fans of jazz in every city we went to and made some new friends, too. I had wondered how it would feel to play every night; how I would find something new each time in approaching the songs that we were playing on the tour. I had wondered whether I would find it difficult to dig in and really give my all with every concert but in fact that was easy. As soon as Bill and I began each night the music did appear brand new and it seemed that each night our musical bond became stronger; there was a feeling of trust and then a type of abandonment and freedom where the music really carried us to new places. How exciting that does feel! Every city treated us with such warmth and I have to say that I have caught the touring bug and definitely want to go again. For now I will say thank you to all of you who we met while on our tour. Your warmth and affection made it an experience that Bill and I will not ever forget. My intention this month was to write a profile on Bill since I had been "interviewing" him while on tour with questions about his musical journey from Montreal days to his present Vancouver residency. It seems there is much to tell because the interview is not over yet. Hopefully by next month I will have the Bill Coon story here in it's entirety. So this is a short entry for PLATO'S WORDS this month. There is much
more to tell but perhaps I will keep it short and sweet for once! Karin |
